Painting I've been working on

Here is a painting I've been working on recently- still has far to go, but I'm relatively pleased with the direction it's heading. I would have liked to post the finished piece, but I'm under orders to start a blog (part of the A.I.B. MFA program) and I didn't want to look like I was slacking off. It's titled, "The Wreck of the Venus". You might recognize the wave from William Stott's "Birth of Venus"- I attached that below...

Also, I just finished Kandinsky's Concerning the Spiritual In Art, which, while hilariously overblown, was pretty decent. I think he unnecessarily downplays materialism, but it was in keeping with his work. As a defense of his paintings, the book is great.

I really like whats happening in the water/sky relationship...Nathaniel, are you using white now? Totally agree about the book. Keep at it!

I've yet to pick up any flake white- still using the titanium. I'm hoping to have this done in the next week. I've been out l.s. painting and will be posting some of that stuff shortly...
